“I use images to commemorate and to juxtapose. Life is fragmented, sometimes chaotic. Mixed-imagery, mixed-media seem in keeping. Subject matter comes from literature, history (especially women’s history), memory, drawings and photos. My use of anomalous shapes and textures reinforces the suggestion of memories and re-imaginings in the work. My process of experimentation with color, varying techniques and layering accentuates the re-tellings. My ceramic figures are listening for a world that is still learning its shape, an anatomy that is still deciding itself; hands form, feet listen, unread messages surface, idle, fade, repeat.
